Red Wing Shoes: #thankaworker

Red Wing boots and shoes have been purpose-built for workers in industries like construction, farming, and logging for over 100 years. To celebrate these workers and their contributions, Red Wing asked us to build a PR/social campaign that would encourage the general public to recognize laborers they know and show their appreciation.

I developed a set of graphics that could be adapted to a variety of uses throughout the campaign. The inspiration for these came from the metal name plates on antique lunch and tool boxes that workers brought with them to job sites in the first half of the 1900’s.

I developed a photo treatment for imagery used throughout the campaign that would be reminiscent of the archival imagery that represented Red Wing’s history in the labor industry. The treatment used a 2-color palette consisting of 2 of the 3 primary Red Wing colors, which helped tie the imagery back to the brand and campaign.
